Awards and Accolades for Omnibus Architect

Philip Lancashire, the architect behind our own amazing Omnibus House, has been awarded the Sussex Heritage Person of the Year Award for 2009, in “recognition of his outstanding commitment to the heritage of Sussex.”

Philip, adding to his impressive collection of awards, was presented the award by the Rt. Hon. Lord Lloyd of Berwick PC on July 9th at the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards, in Chichester. The Sussex Heritage Trust, established in 1977, aims to preserve the “architectural and natural heritage of Sussex.”

Stating that “Britain needs more people like Philip Lancashire,” the trustees praised him for both his commercial projects and several private houses, “...including one which the Building Conservation officers thought was actually an original 18th Century cottage.”

Philip always aims to combine traditional architecture and materials with every-day modern uses. He focuses on the regeneration and sustainability of an area, using original building materials and architectural designs to maintain the unique style of the area.

Philip says that “the projects they have mentioned are close to my heart, and I hope that my work can help to uphold the distinctive architecture of Sussex.”
