Not a load of rubbish

The Buswork's new recycling scheme has scrapped 67,000 litres of rubbish in its first month, a 60% cut.

Before the introduction of the scheme in mid-July, The Busworks produced a mind-blowing 103,400 litres of waste, enough to fill 94 bins. In the first full month's recycling a measly 44,000 litres of waste went to landfill, only enough to fill 40 bins.
This is a massive achievement, but one that could be even better.

The scheme was introduced in mid-July, but has already found a place in everyone's heart.People re-using bottles and cans have contributed enormously, but as Marion said when the scheme was launched,

"The environment is such a pressing issue, it's important everyone at The Busworks does their bit."

By doing these little things, we're all already helping the environment.

"There's still a long way to go to improve on the phenomenal success that's been enjoyed so far. We're looking forward to the results of last month's full environmental audit," said Marion.

In case you've forgotten, here's a list of what can and can't be recycled. Can: Mixed paper (including newspapers, magazines etc,) Cans (empty and clean only), Staples and Pins, Most plastics wax/poly lined cartons and paper cups.

Can't: Food waste, textiles, polystyrene , toner cartridges, black bags, wood, oil/medicine containers, batteries, glass, ceramics, tissues/handtowels, and dirty plastics.
