The Factory heading to York
United House residents, The Factory is taking its ground-breaking version of Hamlet up to York Theatre Royal.
With no set, no costumes, no designated props and no planned cast, The Factory’s rendition of Hamlet redefines audience participation. The cast is chosen by the audience before the show begins. Each actor has learnt numerous parts, so an actor playing Hamlet one night could be Guildenstern the next. The Audience also bring items for the cast members to use as props, from chocolate cake to even a newborn baby.
Ewan McGregor praised the show and performance, and described it as ‘brilliantly directed, brilliantly played and brilliantly executed’. It is a show not to be missed when they return to London.
The Factory’s Hamlet is directed by Tim Carroll and will be appearing at the York Theatre Royal, 22nd to 26th September.
