National Success for Islington Youth Theatre

The Islington Youth Theatre (IYT) have been celebrating, after winning the prestigious New Connections Festival. Their award included performing Nick Drake’s Success at the National Theatre, on 6th July.

They were selected from hundreds of entrants who took part in the New Connections scheme, giving youth groups and schools the opportunity to select and perform plays by renowned playwrights commissioned by the National Theatre.

IYT director Ned Glasier said, “It’s an incredible achievement for this young company as it’s the first time we have entered New Connections”. The IYT’s performance of Success has already been on stage in front of over a thousand Islington residents and students over six performances.

“To perform at the National is a tribute to the skill, hard work and determination of the young people involved,” said Terry Stacey, Leader of Islington Council.
